With THE REMIXES, Mariah Carey presents another compilation that can go on the shelf next to her #1's and GREATEST HITS. This two-disc set features Carey's best bits reworked by a number of famous names in the dance world including David Morales, Junior Vasquez, and C&C Music Factory (aka David Cole and Robert Clivilles). As a thumbnail portrait of this Long Island native's career, the collection balances dance-floor-ready remixes with grittier hip-hop tracks. As a result, the first disc features nine of her biggest club hits, including "Dream Lover," "Fantasy," "Emotions," and "Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise)." Totally unexpected, one day after uploading my home made Bonzo Dog Band compilation 'The BBC Recordings' I stumbled across a bunch of unknown (and many unreleased) BBC recordings from an unknown source, no less than 37 MP3's although some in very poor quality. After listening I decided to upgrade the earlier upload with those tracks that aren't already included in the earlier upload and albeit MP3 sourced, are in a listenable sound quality and interesting to hear.

These are the roots of my career in music. These tracks have determined the path to follow and many of them where revolutionary and truly progressive at the time they where originally released. I have taken the greatest care to come up with the best possible masters, sometimes comparing up to 5 different versions to find out which one sounded the best and most pure. And sometimes even baking the analog master tapes to make them playable again. The heat evaporates the moisture in the coating of the tape. The otherwise moist backing will clog up all parts of the tape recorder the tape touches, leaving a dark glue like substance grinding everything to a halt. After the backing process, the tape becomes playable again and the transfer to digital is performed. Some tracks feature a combination of vocal and dub version just as I used to perform that combination in a live DJ-set. Such a combination features the best parts from the vocal and dub version, capturing the complete feel of what that track meant to me.
